Leon King was a late substitute for Rangers in their victory over Fraserburgh, but Philippe Clement's reluctance to use the defender surely means his Ibrox career has all but ended.

Rangers progressed to the next round of the Scottish Cup with a 5-0 win over Fraserburgh on 19 January, but King's inclusion in the game was minimal.

Robin Propper was withdrawn in the tie, but despite King being a natural centre-back replacement, Clement still opted against utilising him until the latter stages of the game, instead turning to Ridvan Yilmaz.

That was a move described as "strange" by Neil McCann on BBC Radio Scotland's [19 January, 3:36pm] coverage of the match.

King, alongside many others, will surely have this in mind when contemplating what future he has at Ibrox going forward.

Leon King could be done at Rangers

Despite now being 21 years old, King has made just two league appearances for Rangers this campaign, with only a handful of minutes between them. He has just four appearances in total this season despite growing injury concerns at Ibrox.

Clement's move to introduce a full-back in place of a centre-back spoke volumes about where the Belgian sees King's future and, if not already evident, it does not appear to be at Rangers.

If King is to make something of his career, he's now at the age where crucial decisions need to be made on his behalf, with one seemingly already made by the Gers boss.

Any future inclusion for the Scotsman looks increasingly unlikely, and there comes a time when he has to accept his time is up. That time is now.
