Rangers must stand firm against any interest despite the numbers being thrown around linking Hamza Igamane with a January exit.

The Moroccan has hit a vein of inspired form which has carried his side at times in recent weeks, sparing the blushes of Philippe Clement on several occasions.

Igamane's new-found goalscoring prowess has now made him one of Clement's key operators and with the transfer window having now swung open, clubs will have unsurprisingly taken notice.

While the summer would be the likelier time for an Igamane departure from Ibrox, what they do with their in-form forward will represent how strong their reserve really is.

Former Celtic man Tony Watt is among those who has recently admitted Igamane should not be leaving Rangers for any less than £15million, with the 22-year-old having scored eight in his last nine.

Rangers have no choice with Igamane to compete

Rangers have simply one option if they want to remain building towards staying competitive with Celtic for the longer haul - don't sell their best players.

Igamane leaving in the summer after just one season at Ibrox would represent a quick stepping stone, and leaving in January would be season suicide.

The young Moroccan had signed last summer from AS FAR in Rabat in his homeland, and endured a sluggish start to life in Scotland with only sporadic opportunities.

But however reluctantly, Clement threw him in and he has proven he is more than ready by saving his manager on numerous occasions, namely his hat-trick at Hibernian last time out (5 January) and his brace off the bench at Motherwell only a week earlier (29 December).

Rangers proved plenty of capabilities with their Old Firm dismantling of Celtic in the match sandwiched in between (2 January), but to sustain those strengths have to keep the likes of Igamane in the building for longer than just a year - and certainly longer than six months.
