Rangers fans might face difficulty travelling to Easter Road for their match against Hibernian after the Met Office's latest weather warning.

BBC Scotland Weather posted on X (4 January) with a new yellow weather warning valid from 9am on Sunday, with snow and ice covering much of Scotland's northeast, including the outskirts of Edinburgh.

While the areas affected don't include Easter Road itself or the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, fans travelling east through areas like Bo'Ness will be affected by the ice and snowfall.

The BBC's post said: "An additional Met Office yellow warning for snow and ice will be valid from 9am Sunday for the east and northeast.

"The developing east to northeast wind increasingly brings showers in from the North Sea – again rain toward east coast, falling as sleet and snow further inland."

Rangers fans face difficult journey to Hibernian clash

The Light Blues faithful are used to travelling nationwide in their thousands to follow their heroes – including some far-flung locations in the lower leagues – and it'll take more than snow to stop them.

However, the Met Office's weather warning will undoubtedly cause problems for those expected to make the trip to the capital for Sunday's Premiership clash, given the widespread areas affected.

BBC Weather Warning

As one of the world's most historic clubs, the Bears have supporters all over Scotland and beyond, with those in eastern areas facing an even more treacherous journey than fans coming from Glasgow.

The match kicking off earlier than the rest of Sunday's league fixtures may alleviate some of the heavy traffic expected on the M8, but a large portion of fans' journeys will see them tackle the snow head-on.

On the field – with Easter Road likely to avoid the flurries – all attention will be on reversing the Gers' below-par away form, and fans who do make it will be making their voices heard if this doesn't happen.
