Manchester United player tipped to sign for Rangers in January transfer
Rangers should sign Manchester United defender Jonny Evans in the January transfer window, Kris Boyd has suggested.
The Sky Sports pundit insists that more leadership is needed in the playing squad at Ibrox, with Philippe Clement fighting to save his job already.
Evans is currently at Old Trafford with Ruben Amorim, with a short-term deal until the end of the season already mooted to make the switch to Glasgow.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, as shared on their transfer blog (1 January, 11:32), Boyd suggested one signing that Nils Koppen could make.
“I just look at Rangers, I don’t really see any leaders in there,” he said.
“I know there has been rumours of Nathan Patterson, but I can’t help but think somebody like a Jonny Evans or something, maybe until the end of the season.”
Rangers to seal Manchester United transfer agreement?
This would be a strange addition, but it proves just how poor things are looking at Ibrox right now.
With little financial power to go out and splash the cash in January, smart short-term contracts or loan deals may need to be looked at.
What doesn’t help is the sheer number of injuries facing Clement, with John Souttar, Leon Balogun and James Tavernier just a handful of possible absentees this month.

Old Trafford is witnessing football worse than Ibrox at the moment if that is possible, so Evans may fancy a change and a last shot at success before retirement.
Making six Premier League appearances so far this season, he has also completed suitable minutes in other competitions, making him ready for action.
Robin Propper has been nothing short of shocking since arriving in Govan, and it may be that another new defender is needed to push him into action.
This is certainly one to watch over the next month.
In other Rangers news, an injury update has emerged regarding Leon Balogun ahead of the Celtic clash.
