Rangers and Celtic replaying the Premier Sports Cup final after the VAR controversy makes no sense, Peter Martin says.

Willie Collum, the Scottish FA head of refereeing, has admitted that the officials made an error in not awarding the Light Blues a spot kick during extra time after Vaclav Cerny was fouled.

The Gers lost 5-4 on penalties at Hampden Park on 15 December, and suggestions that the game should be replayed have been slammed as "ludicrous".

Speaking on PLZ Soccer [19 December], Martin said: "I've heard some ludicrous suggestion that they should replay the match, which is just complete nonsense."

Rangers to replay Celtic at Hampden Park?

It's impossible that the game against Celtic for the Scottish League title will take place again.

The Bears were unfortunate to lose the Old Firm derby at Hampden after the 3-3 draw, but it makes no sense to drag the case forward.

Philippe Clement and his team will have a chance at retribution on 2 January when Brendan Rodgers' men travel to Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers are 11 points behind the Hoops in the league table, and while catching their Old Firm rivals seems a bit out of reach, they need to at least secure second place.

After the Light Blues' impressive performance against Tottenham in the Europa League, the Ibrox faithful will undoubtedly be excited to see what they can do against Manchester United on 23 January.

The Gers also have Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup next month, a competition Clement must make sure he wins at the end of the season.

While the Bears fans will welcome a replay against Celtic, it makes no sense to lose sleep over it.
