Rangers are set to meet for their latest Annual General Meeting, with on-field performance and off-field progression to take centre stage, Dan Plumley has said.

The Ibrox board are set to be grilled by shareholders at Clyde Auditorium on Thursday 5 December, with the terrible start to the season setting it up to be fiesty.

Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that finances will play a part in the meeting, although it wasn't unusual to see Rangers post losses of £17.2million in their latest accounts.

"I said this at the time as well, you've got to balance that," he exclusively told Ibrox News.

"It's not unusual for football clubs to make losses and you've got to look at the record turnover.

"I think the AGM will look into the finances, but also critically, it's the here and now as well and what will dictate the direction of travel for the next set of accounts and beyond because we've talked a lot about Rangers in terms of financially, what is a huge boost to them is Champions League or Europa League.

"If you can get into the Champions League, brilliant from a monetary perspective.

Rangers AGM set for Thursday

"That will be on the agenda as well, not just where the finances are at or have been, but also what are they going to look like projected forward given how they have been on the pitch at the moment.

"I'm sure that on-field, off-field conversation will be front and centre of that AGM."

Champions League qualification is a huge boost in Scottish football, and could be worth up to a minimum of £25.7m to clubs, and would go beyond that once it starts.

John Gilligan wasn't around for that failure, but as interim chairman, he will face the questions over how the club get back to that stage from this point - seven points behind second-placed Aberdeen.
