Tottenham goalkeeper Fraser Forster is set for a "shock" start against Rangers in the Europa League, according to the Scottish Sun.

The news outlet reported on 26 November that due to Guglielmo Vicario's long-term injury, the former Hoops keeper will start between the sticks in the Europa League clash on 12 December.

The 36-year-old last played at Ibrox back in 2019 when he was the number one for Celtic.

Rangers are going to have to be at their best to beat Tottenham

The Europa League clash is going to be an incredibly tough one for Gers especially Spurs' recent form.

Tottenham's dismantling of Manchester City with a 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium is a testament to their current prowess, showcasing their capability to perform exceptionally against top-tier competition.

This victory not only highlights their offensive strength but also their tactical sophistication under Ange Postecoglou.

With Forster, a former Celtic goalkeeper, stepping in for the injured Vicario, Gers will be facing a weakened opposition but still go into this one as underdogs.

Given this context, Rangers will need to be at their very best to counter Tottenham's dynamic play, both in defence and attack.

It remains to be seen what Philippe Clement has in mind as his side have usually been better in Europe as compared to domestically.
