Rangers were "appalling" in defence as they conceded against Dundee United on Saturday, Michael Gannon has said.

Ibrox welcomed Jim Goodwin's team on 23 November in the Scottish Premiership, and Sam Dalby opened the scoring with a header after finding himself free in the six-yard box.

Vaclav Cerny managed to equalise in the second half as the game ended 1-1, Gannon could not believe the defending from Jefte and his teammates at the back.

Speaking on Daily Record's Hotline Live on 24 November, he said: "The goal was appalling.

"Standing off the man for the cross in the middle of the goal. Jefte going AWOL. Terrible goal to lose again."

Rangers issues laid bare v Dundee United

Dalby's goal highlighted the fact that there seems to be a lack of communication between the Rangers' defence.

Robin Propper looked frustrated after the Bears conceded, and his ire seemed to be directed towards Jefte, who was in no man's land when the Tangerines' striker slipped in.

It's nothing new for the Ibrox faithful to see their defenders switch off, with James Tavernier one of the biggest culprits of doing it over the years.

The Gers have managed just six clean sheets in their 12 league matches this season, and their rut in the attacking third has compounded the issue.

Cyriel Dessers has repeatedly showcased that he can't be relied upon to find the back of the net for the Light Blues, and it's about time that Clement realises it.

Jefte was excellent going forward against Dundee United and was the Glaswegian club's biggest threat in the first half, but the 20-year-old Brazilian's nous at the back is questionable.

With issues up front and in the backline, it's no wonder that Rangers are 11 points off Celtic at the top of the table, and Clement needs to find a solution soon before the Bears decide to pull the trigger on the Belgian.
