Scottish media have hailed John Souttar after the Rangers defender starred for his country in the 2-1 win over Poland in the Nations League.

The Tartan Army travelled to the National Stadium in Warsaw on 18 November, and a goal from Andrew Robertson in stoppage time gave them a massive 2-1 win.

Souttar started alongside Grant Hanley at the back, playing the full 90 minutes, providing an assist, and being defensively solid throughout the fixture.

Edinburgh Evening News [18 November] gave the Gers' centre-back 8/10, writing: "A couple of impressive blocks by the Rangers man. Assist for the second goal is sublime, a heroic shift."

The Scottish Daily Mail [18 November] gave the 28-year-old the same rating and wrote: "Physically and technically strong. His cross for the winner was sumptuous, his block to deny Kaminski sensational."

Souttar was given an 8/10 again by the Daily Record [18 November], which said: "Another excellent display for the Rangers defender at the heart of Scotland's defence. Produced a stunning block on the line when Gordon was beaten."

John Souttar in sublime form for Rangers and Scotland

Rangers have heavily relied on the 28-year-old to provide defensive solidity at the back this season, and he has found his feet in recent weeks.

The Scotsman started for the Gers in their 1-0 victory over Hearts in the league on 10 November and was instrumental in helping the team hold on to the narrow lead.

Souttar took this form into the international break, and the defender was immense for his country against Poland and when the Tartan Army beat Croatia 1-0 on 15 November.

Against the Polish, the centre-back had 84 per cent passing accuracy, created one chance, made four passes into the final third, made two blocks, and three clearances and won two of his three duels, as per FotMob.

Rangers have conceded just two goals at home, but that number goes up to six away from home.

Now that the Light Blues are set to return to action against Dundee United at Ibrox on 23 November in the Scottish Premiership, the Ibrox faithful will hope the Scotland international continues his fine form.
