Michael Stewart stunned Nedim Bajrami after what he did for Rangers v Hearts

Michael Stewart was left stunned after Nedim Bajrami’s “dream” distribution for Rangers against Hearts on Sunday.

Speaking live on Premier Sports (10 November, 6:19pm), Stewart joined Philippe Clement in applauding the Albanian’s skill to create a chance in the 1-0 win at Ibrox.

Bajrami brought down a cross-field pass from John Souttar before fizzing a threatening ball across the face of goal, but neither Vaclav Cerny nor Cyriel Dessers could turn it home.

Stewart said: “Philippe Clement’s on the touchline doing a round of applause – that’s good play, a lovely ball from Souttar, great first touch and a wonderful second touch.

“It’s a dream ball into the middle there; the whole Rangers frontline just caught on their heels slightly.”

Rangers need more from Nedim Bajrami at Ibrox

Sneaking through what was at times a backs-to-the-wall second half to secure a narrow win over the Jam Tarts, it’s clear that improvement is needed across the board to calm a nervy Ibrox crowd.

Clement’s side have been far from convincing this season, with the Belgian’s statement that their October and November form would be a litmus test looking more foolish with every passing game.

Rather than his new-look side hitting their stride and dispatching teams with free-flowing football, the Gers are struggling to get results, and they are hardly making a dent in the Premiership title race.

In Deadline Day signing Bajrami, however, the Light Blues do have a player who possesses real quality, as was shown by his sublime cross against Hearts and individual goal at Aberdeen two weeks prior.

The key to Clement turning his side into true contenders – and potentially saving his job in the process –is to further unlock the likes of Bajrami, but it remains to be seen if the Belgian will be given time to do so.

In other Rangers news, one Light Blues player justified Philippe Clement’s selection with what he did in the first half at Ibrox.
