BBC Sport journalist Tyrone Smith has revealed that Aberdeen fans booed Connor Barron from his first touches of the game for Rangers at Pittodrie.

The Gers suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Dons which now leaves them nine points behind them in the Scottish Premiership, piling pressure on Philippe Clement.

It was a difficult night for the Light Blues and none more than Barron against his former side after what Smith revealed on BBC Sport (30 October)

He said: "The boos ring out around Pittodrie as Connor Barron gets his first touches of the game. I suspect we will be hearing a lot more of that."

It was always going to be the case for the 22-year-old that he would receive a frosty reception after leaving the Dons in the summer.

The Scotland Under-21 international let his contract at Pittodrie run down before securing a move to Ibrox on a free transfer.

As a result, his performance wasn't necessarily up to scratch in the first half as the Light Blues went in 1-0 down at the break.

The jeers towards Barron clearly got to him with a memorable moment being a heavy touch going out for a throw-in being met with sarcastic cheers from the crowd.

The performance in the second half was improved as Clement's side moved the ball around with a quicker tempo which suited the ex-Aberdeen man in the midfield.

It still wasn't enough in the end as Jimmy Thelin's side took all three points which now sees them sitting nine points ahead of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.
