Rangers manager Philippe Clement is already being pressed "hard" by the media despite doubts from fans, Tom English has said.

The BBC journalist responded to a fan on X (23 October) asking when the media would start pressing Clement "with tough questions" on what is happening at Ibrox.

English hit back at the suggestion, saying it was already happening as Rangers prepare to take on FCSB in the Europa League on 24 October.

He wrote: "Media already pressing him, hard."

Philippe Clement under pressure at Rangers

Having just marked the anniversary of his first year in charge at Ibrox, any semblance of a honeymoon period for Clement is well and truly over – and has seemed to be for months on end.

A discouraging 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on 20 October leaves the Light Blues six points off the pace in the fight for the league title already, ahead of a potentially decisive trip to Aberdeen later this month.

Celtic – who Clement is yet to win against in five attempts as Gers boss – have already dispatched their Old Firm rivals 3-0 in the fourth game of the season, and a strong run of form since is well and truly over.

The chance to get back on track in Europe after a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Lyon at Ibrox must be taken with both hands, with anything less than a win over FCSB likely to heap the pressure on Clement.

Clement is far from the biggest problem at Ibrox, but the longer a poor spell continues, the more likely a manager – instead of players and board members – is likely to be given the boot.
