Nils Koppen has revealed that as many as 62 players reached the final transfer recruitment process for Rangers this summer.

In an interview with Rangers Review [16 October] this stage saw Philippe Clement reviewing footage of the players and often discussions were held with individuals as well.

The club's director of football recruitment also admitted that it was important the club stuck to the plan and did not go for names who've not been through the process.

“It’s important to stick to the plan and not react with players who have not been through this process,” Koppen stated.

Philippe Clement must now bring the best out of his new signings at Rangers

While Koppen's detailed recruitment process at Ibrox sounds robust and methodical in theory, its success ultimately hinges on the performance of the players once they join the squad.

The meticulous selection involving Clement's review and direct discussions with players aims to ensure a strategic fit for both skill and team ethos.

However, the true test lies on the pitch and regardless of how thorough the recruitment process is, the players must deliver on match days, adapting to the club's style of play and contributing positively to the team's dynamics.

Moreover, the manager's ability to integrate these new signings effectively into the first team, maximising their potential and blending them with the current squad is crucial.

If Clement can harness the talents of these new recruits, turning their potential into consistent performances, then Koppen's recruitment strategy will be validated.

Whether or not the thorough analysis for new January transfers has begun, remains to be seen, but it's about time there is some movement on that front too.

It's not just about securing the right players but also about their development and utilisation within the team setup.
