Michael Stewart has slammed Robin Propper after the Rangers defender was caught in a "panic" during the clash with St Johnstone.

Philippe Clement's side got back to winning ways at Ibrox as they took a 2-0 win into the international break on Sunday (6 October) thanks to a brace from Vaclav Cerny.

While the Light Blues were in control for much of the game, Premier Sports pundit Stewart was quick to tear into Propper after Benjamin Mbunga Kimpoika put him under some pressure early in the first half.

Speaking on Premier Sports on Sunday (6 October, 20:12) he said: "You see the pace of him, that's a simple ball around the corner just played into a general area and Robin Propper has got no idea that Kimpioka is even a threat.

"You can see the panic once he realised that he needed to really start motoring."

What has happened to Robin Propper at Rangers and Ibrox?

It's safe to say that the jury is still out when it comes to Propper as both fans and pundits don't seem to be sure whether or not the Dutchman has been a smart addition in Glasgow.

While the 30-year-old is capable of pulling off some big tackles and has shown some good qualities in possession, he has also been guilty of being a little bit weak, particularly when a forward has been willing to battle against him.

Ultimately, his moment of panic didn't matter too much on Sunday as the linesman's flag had already gone up when Kimpioka put him under some pressure. Even if he didn't know what he was doing, it didn't harm the Gers.

Hopefully, as he continues to play with John Souttar week in and week out, Propper will only continue to improve. If the Light Blues have a centre-back partnership that they can rely upon, it will make their life a hell of a lot easier in the long run.
