Kris Boyd calls out Connor Barron after what he did in Rangers humiliation v Lyon

Connor Barron was slammed by Kris Boyd after his poor pass led to a Lyon goal against Rangers in their Europa League tie on Thursday (3 October).

Speaking on Sky Sports Scotland (3 October, 8:25pm), Boyd blasted Barron's no-look pass which went straight to Malick Fofana, who drove into the box before teeing Alexandre Lacazette up to make it 2-1.

Barron had received a pass from Robin Propper and attempted to find John Souttar, but instead allowed Fofana to capitalise, race clear and set up the goal which sent Lyon on to a dominant 4-1 victory at Ibrox.

Boyd said: "Again, it's a poor pass for Connor Barron, you can't do this at this level. He's just tried to play it blind, didn't look, and Fofana's onto it in a flash.

"It's a really poor pass from Barron, he does his best to get back in, but to no avail."

Not only did Barron's shocking back-pass leave the Gers wide open at the back, it also brought an end to an – albeit brief – period of calm that Philippe Clement's side had managed to instil in the first half.

Flying out of the blocks at kick-off, the Light Blues generated several early chances but failed to make Lyon's ropy defence pay, with Vaclav Cerny putting a golden opportunity over from right in front.

Lyon did make the Gers pay though, hitting Clement's over-committed side on the break barely a minute later and going 1-0 up to silence the raucous Ibrox crowd.

However, the Bears had wrestled back some control via Tom Lawrence's scrappy equaliser just minutes later – but that was all for nothing within another five minutes as Barron's pass let Fofana in.

Lacazette putting Lyon 2-1 up – and then adding another just before half-time – was arguably the straw which broke the camel's back, and it could have been a different game if not for Barron's errant ball.
