Maurice Ross has slammed Tom English for his negative review of the Rangers performance against Dundee United.

The BBC Scotland reporter posted to X on 15 September suggesting that the Gers' performance was "jittery", leaving Philippe Clement "relieved but hardly encouraged" by the win.

In response, former Light Blues defender Ross shared his positive perspective via X [15 September] of the win away against the Tangerines.

He said: "Jittery? Full control professional performance. United looked dreadful, void of any creative edge."

Maurice Ross commends Rangers showing v Dundee United

The Gers are back to winning ways after their disappointing defeat last time out in the Old Firm at Parkhead.

If that performance was unprofessional and embarrassing, the showing at Tannadice Park was much improved and positive.

Tom Lawrence's deft effort was enough to open the scoring and help secure all three points for Clement despite the home side having their moments.

United could only manage 0.32 expected goals, which shows how little they created throughout in comparison to the Light Blues with 0.94 [FotMob].

There is an element of frustration to see Rangers go away and hold the ball in the corner to eventually secure a 1-0 win.

On the other hand, this is the professionalism and grit and determination that supporters have been wanting in recent weeks.

The performance was by no means a classic but a win is a win when you are looking to close the gap to Celtic in the league in double quick time.
