Chris Jack believes Ianis Hagi will leave Rangers before transfer deadline day but he wants to join a club in a top league.

The Romania international has turned down the opportunity to move from Ibrox in a return to his home country with Rapid Bucharest [Sky Sports].

Jack has suggested that a move away from the Gers will still go through for the 25-year-old but only if a side from a top European league makes an offer.

Speaking on the Rangers Review on 27 August, he said: "We don't think he'll be a Rangers player for much longer. It looks like he'll be able to do a deal to leave the club by the end of this week.

"It isn't a surprise that going back to Romania is not the option he has decided to go for. It would feel like quite a backwards step.

"He and his camp see him playing at a high level and being in a top-five league. Rangers have to get something for him but the fee isn't the issue, it's the wages."

Ianis Hagi wants European club exit from Rangers

After a terrific campaign in the 2024 European Championships, it felt as if the attacking midfielder would be guaranteed a move away from Ibrox.

With just days remaining in the transfer window, Hagi is still stuck in Glasgow and could be forced into playing for Philippe Clement's side if a deal isn't concluded very soon.

There is no doubt that this could prove to be a positive for the Belgian's squad and their season's prospects given what the Romanian can add.

They will have to look for a transfer away for the former Genk man after he made his feelings clear regarding an exit.

It is unclear what he thinks is going to happen in the final days of the window given that he wants a move to a top side in a European league.

Given his loan spell with Alavez wasn't exactly electric, it will be interesting to see who comes in for the midfielder.
