Rangers could leave Hampden Park and return to Ibrox a week earlier than planned, according to the Daily Record.

The outlet newspaper reported via their online edition on 21 August that the Gers are "grafting around the clock" to have the stadium ready quicker than expected.

If the Light Blues get the green light, fans could return to Ibrox for the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Dundee FC on 21 September.

This would mean Saturday's clash against Ross County (24 August) would be the last at Hampden Park.

Rangers set for Ibrox return from Hampden Park

It has not been a joyful spell for supporters having to travel away from their usual home ground to the national stadium.

In particular, the Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv missed the Ibrox atmosphere and had a near-empty feel.

Although not a key factor necessarily, this definitely contributed to Philippe Clement's side being dumped out of Europe's elite competition early on.

There is no doubt that fans will be welcoming an early return home after this period away.

The mess at Ibrox has been seen as a physical embodiment of the mess that the Gers' hierarchy has gotten themselves into in recent months.

It seems as if they have got their act together somewhat in order to welcome fans back earlier than initially expected.

Although this is positive, fans aren't going to suddenly be happy and supportive of John Bennett and Co. as there are plenty of other issues that need solving as soon as possible.
