Simon Jordan thinks Rangers should hire Graeme Souness as their director of football.

The Gers are currently without a director which hasn't been helped by the departure of James Bisgrove to Saudi Arabia in May.

Nearly three months later, Jordan has urged the Light Blues to bring in their former player and manager in that role live on talkSPORT on 20 August at 12:27.

He said: "Not at all. They've got a £60-80m a year turnover. They can get very good operators to work in that business.

"Rangers are competing at the top of the Scottish Premiership and are in Europe. Why in God's name wouldn't there be a very capable operator going in there and fixing some of those challenges?

"I personally think, from the footballing side, they should bring Souness in as a director of football, or a proper footballing consultant - not anywhere near the commercial side of things. There's no reason why Celtic and Rangers cannot have the best in class, or near to it."

Rangers urged to bring Graeme Souness in as director

There is a lot wrong with Rangers at a board level which is filtering down and dragging down the club on the pitch.

Now that the club have been knocked out of the Champions League, the fees spent on the stadium are hampering Philippe Clement's transfer business.

With that being said, bringing in Souness to see over the club from a footballing perspective could be the start of a project at Ibrox moving forward.

The former Scotland international knows the game like the back of his hand and would certainly have supporters' best interests in mind.

There would be a risk in this move given his lack of experience at the board level which could spiral the Gers even further downwards.

There is a lot wrong with the Light Blues at the minute and John Bennett needs to sort it out fast.
