Four Lads Had A Dream's Stevie Clifford has shared a new transfer stance on Cyriel Dessers after his vitally important goal in Rangers v Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday (6 August).

The 29-year-old poked home a delightful cross from Vaclav Cerny in the fourth minute of added time against the Ukrainian side, bringing a 1-1 draw back to Hampden Park ahead of the second leg.

Dessers has certainly experienced his fair share of criticism despite scoring 22 goals during his first season in Scotland, and Clifford is now open to him remaining at Ibrox this summer.

Speaking via The Rangers Review YouTube channel on Wednesday (7 August), Clifford said: "Would I like the big man to stay? Listen, if he scores the goals then I think everyone will want him to keep going.

"But, it's the frustrating moments from Dessers that get the headlines rather than the big moments like last night. Mentally, he's got what you want because he takes criticism and doesn't hide. It was a lovely moment for him last night when we needed something."

Cyriel Dessers to leave Rangers before transfer window closes?

The striker has been heavily linked with an Ibrox exit this summer, with several teams making "tentative" approaches over a potential deal [Chris Jack], but he looks set to remain in Scotland.

Dessers is eager is stay with the Scottish giants and fight for his place, even despite Philippe Clement bringing in a plethora of young players to freshen up the squad.

Some pundits have even begun to change their minds on the "Marmite" forward - you either love or hate him - and he could still be very important heading into the 2024/25 campaign.

Scoring 22 goals in your first season at a club is no minimal feat, especially with the whole fanbase on your back about your serious lack of quality on the ball, and all he can do is prove those haters wrong.
