Rangers may not be convinced to sign Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri permanently this summer, according to David Edgar.

The Heart and Hand host was asked on X on 31 July about the 21-year-old potentially moving to Ibrox this month.

Four Lads Had a Dream mooted a loan move for the Tunisia international and a transfer may not be on the cards for Gers.

Edgar wrote: "I’m not sure where that one is - not convinced Rangers would be interested if it was a straight sale."

Rangers must not overpay for Hannibal Mejbri

The club's cautious approach towards signing Mejbri from Manchester United is a prudent strategy, reflecting the club's financial constraints and strategic planning.

While his potential arrival seems promising, his inconsistent track record presents both opportunities and risks for the Ibrox outfit.

The primary concern for Rangers is the financial aspect of the deal as it may require a significant investment for a club with limited resources.

Furthermore, Mejbri's performance history suggests that he is not yet a proven player at the highest level.

His loan spells at Birmingham City and Sevilla have been mixed, with the latter being particularly disappointing.

Gers cannot afford to make a costly mistake in the transfer market, especially given their need to strengthen other areas of the squad.
