Vaclav Cerny could make his Rangers debut against Hearts as he is expected to be part of the group at Tynecastle, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist reported on Sunday (28 July) that the Light Blues latest addition was unable to feature in the pre-season clash with Union Berlin as the Gers wait for international clearance.

Cerny has joined Philippe Clement's side on a season-long loan from Wolfsburg, with reports suggesting it is just a straight loan with no option or obligation to make his stay permanent [inFotblal.cz, 25 July].

Rangers get their Premiership season up and running with a trip to Tynecastle on Saturday (3 August) as Clement looks to beat Celtic to the league title.

When could Vaclav Cerny make his Rangers debut?

Whether or not Clement will throw Cerny straight into the starting XI for the season opener against Hearts remains to be seen, but it is good that Rangers can call upon their latest signing from the first week of the campaign.

Most supporters would have liked to have seen the Light Blues make more additions earlier in the summer so that the new signings were able to hit the ground running after a full pre-season under the eye of the Belgian.

But various factors have made that almost impossible for the Gers, particularly now that they need to sell some players before making any further additions to the first-team squad in the coming weeks.

Clement's side risk heading into the new season slightly short of bodies, particularly as a number of players could still depart ahead of the Premiership's curtain-raiser.

Hopefully, Cerny will be able to feature in some capacity at Tynecastle as it feels unlikely that either Hamza Igamane or Clinton Nsiala will make a surprise inclusion in the starting XI in Edinburgh.
