Rangers board blasted over mess as incoming transfer targets run out of patience in Ibrox wait

Philippe Clement's transfer targets are going to run out of patience waiting for Rangers to push through sales to be able to afford them, warns Derek Ferguson.

The Light Blues boss stated publicly on 13 July that he had to sell in order to buy [Daily Record] and is only now starting to see those exits go through after Sam Lammers joined FC Twente.

But ex-Ibrox midfielder Ferguson has slammed the Gers board for hiring an ambitious manager and then not allowing him to restock his squad properly.

The pundit fears the much-needed senior signings that Clement will have wanted to bring in will increasingly be signing elsewhere with so much of the transfer window already past.

He exclusively told Ibrox News: "The board need to get their act together, they need to get their fingers out.

"They've brought in a manager that's ambitious, but you've got to give him the tools to go and bring these guys in. 

"They keep saying there's no money but with the likes of some of the guys going out the door it's going to free up a bit of cash. 

"But we're tracking all these guys and they're patience will be running out a bit, because they'll have other offers as well.

"There comes a point where they have to look after themselves.

"It's just a bit of a mess, I've got to be honest with you, but that mess falls to the board and they're failing the Rangers support big time."

John Bennett and the Ibrox board might justifiably point to the money that has made Mohamed Diomande's loan permanent and the cash that has been committed to signing Oscar Cortes on a similar arrangement.

Aberdeen are looking to squeeze every last penny they can out of the Light Blues over the Connor Barron signing as well.

But the point stands that Clement is picking up the pieces of Michael Beale's failure a year ago and is lumbered with more financial pressures that his predecessor.

But with the likes of Lammers and Goldson departing, and James Tavernier heavily linked with an exit, there is space opening up on the wage bill so the manager will be desperate to bring his own people in after already missing out on targets including Jose Cordoba and Yusuf Kabadayi this summer.

In other Rangers news, it has been suggested that Clement could walk out of his job in the near future.
