Cruzeiro are on the verge of announcing Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes will leave and complete a move to a Greek side, according to Joao Victor Barcelos.

The Vavel Brazil journalist reported on 26 July after claims that the Ecuador international will join Greek side Aris Thessaloniki on loan, via TEAMtalk.

The 25-year-old was on loan at Cruzeiro, but they will now have to let him go as he's set to join Aris with O Tempo breaking the story.

Barcelos wrote on X: "Cruzeiro is about to announce another player leaving. This is midfielder José Cifuentes, 25 years old, who should be destined for Greek football. If the deal is completed, Rangers will re-loan the Ecuadorian player."

Rangers must rope in another midfielder post Jose Cifuentes' departure

Johnly Yfeko left Ibrox on loan recently and Cifuentes is the next one to leave on a temporary basis.

Even though Cifuentes wasn't really a part of next season's plans, it's imperative that Gers rope in a new midfielder this summer.

While Connor Barron has joined, the likes of John Lundstram and Ryan Jack have left, leaving the club threadbare in that area.

It remains to be seen whether or not Gers can successfully bring in Jordan or another midfielder to the club this summer.
