Rangers are "likely to return" with another bid for Connor Barron after Aberdeen rejected Rangers' first offer, according to Chris Jack.

The journalist reports that a new bid is in aid of the two teams being able to bring matters to a close rather than go to a tribunal.

Should a tribunal be required, however, then the Gers will strongly make their case.

Why Rangers must avoid a tribunal for Connor Barron this summer

Now that a deal has been done for Barron, it is guaranteed that the youngster will be representing Rangers next season.

As an initial free transfer, the move is a stellar piece of business on behalf of Phillipe Clement due to it adding to the Scottish quota and helping fill the void left by John Lundstram.

Especially since they managed to tie the youngster down to a four-year contract.

If the deal goes to tribunal - it could make the deal seem much worse off for the club than initially thought.

As Barron is still just 21-years-old, he has a bright future ahead of him and there's no doubt that the Gers will be looking at making a profit on him in the future.

But, if the fee has to go through a tribunal, a sell-on clause could be added to the move for the Dons.

And, as Aberdeen have already rejected a £500,000 offer for Barron [Daily Record, 25 June], the fee could easily exceed this amount.
