Rangers are interested in signing Ryan Sessegnon on a free transfer after his release from Tottenham and have made early checks, according to HITC.

There is plenty of interest in the 24-year-old with the Gers going up against Fulham, Leeds United and West Ham also linked to the versatile left-back.

His contract with Spurs expired at the end of the 2023/24 season and now Sessegnon will be available on a free transfer.

Rangers want Ryan Sessegnon this summer

At one point in time, Sessegnon had the world at his feet as he won multiple individual awards as Fulham were promoted to the Premier League.

He scored 16 goals for the Cottagers in his final Championship season [FotMob] and earned a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Things just never clicked for the Englishman in North London with a lack of game time and injuries hampering his young career.

Since joining them in 2019 he has made just 57 appearances while making a failed loan move to the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

A move to Ibrox could prove to be very beneficial for all parties this summer to reinvigorate Sessegnon's career in Scotland.

With Borna Barisic departing this summer and James Tavernier linked with a move away, a new defensive option is needed and the 24-year-old would be a great choice.

His wages may prove to be an issue but if Rangers could pull off this move, he could prove to be one of the signings of the summer.
