Rangers have joined the transfer race to sign Motherwell striker Theo Bair this summer, according to The Athletic.

The online source reported [24 June] that the Gers will be up against Old Firm rivals Celtic to secure the 24-year-old's signature, having notched 13 goals in 33 Scottish Premiership appearances.

It is understood that the Canadian, who is currently away with his national team at Copa America, has received early proposals from multiple mid-to-bottom Bundesliga clubs already.

Following multiple difficult seasons in the United States, Norway, and even his first campaign in Scotland, Bair has finally found his feet at a club, prompting journalist Peter Martin to dub him a "top-drawer" striker last season [PLZ Soccer].

With just one goal in his first season with the Steelmen, 15 goals in his second campaign - including two goals and two assists in the Scottish Premiership relegation group - will have come as a surprise.

However, it seems that hard work truly pays off, with the striker analysing his own style of play and comparing it to others to help his development.

That could be the kind of keen player that Philippe Clement is looking to add to his squad during the transfer window, with the striker position clearly an important area this summer.

Despite scoring 20 goals in all competitions during his first season at Ibrox, Cyriel Dessers has continued to be a favourite to be sold this summer, having been regularly criticised for his all-round play.

With Danilo nearing a return from injury, and a Monday announcement on the cards for 21-year-old Hamza Igamane, as per Football Scotland, the Nigerian's exit could already be looming.

Given Danilo's injury record, however, another striker addition could be key to Rangers' success next season, and considering Bair's displays recently, there is no reason why they could not take a risk with him.

The 24-year-old has more than proven himself, though it could be a very difficult step up for the young forward as the Gers enter Champions League qualification ahead of next season.
