AC Milan centre-back Clinton Nsiala is understood to be seduced by the project at Rangers, according to Foot Mercato.

The news outlet reported on 10 June that Gers have scouted the French defender on several occasions and are a step ahead of the other clubs keen on securing his services.

The 20-year-old will not be signing a contract extension at San Siro and is set to seal a summer transfer to Ibrox.

Clinton Nsiala the alternate to Jose Cordoba at Rangers?

Gers' interest in Nsiala from Milan appears to be a strategic move following losing out on the Jose Cordoba transfer to Norwich City, and the club have announced the deal too.

The 20-year-old French defender has been on their radar for a while and they've done whatever it takes to steal a march on the other suitors.

His decision not to renew his contract with AC Milan suggests a strong desire for a new challenge, which Gers are poised to offer.

Given the circumstances, it's likely that the club see Nsiala as an alternative to Cordoba.

Nsiala's impressive performances in the AC Milan youth setup and his international experience with France's youth teams indicate that he could quickly become a first-team regular at Ibrox.

It remains to be seen whether or not there are any further hindrances in getting this deal over the line in the coming days.
