Rangers could land Bojan Miovski transfer from Aberdeen ahead of future Premier League move

Derek Ferguson

At the start of 2024, former Rangers star Derek Ferguson agreed to become Ibrox News' newest pundit. Ferguson started his career at Ibrox, making his league debut for the club aged 17 in a draw against Hearts in 1984. He eventually left Rangers in 1990 after making 91 league appearances and winning two Scottish titles. Ferguson went on to play for the likes of Hearts, Sunderland and Falkirk before retiring after a spell at Raith Rovers in 2006. Now, Ibrox News is delighted to have the former midfielder sharing his weekly thoughts on all things Rangers.

Derek Ferguson has suggested Rangers could provide Bojan Miovski a platform to secure a move to England after the club were reported to be in the race to sign him.

However, the pundit believes that with Celtic also believed to be in the race for the Aberdeen star it could come down to money as to who secures the "no-brainer" signing.

Fotmob (24 May) named both sides of the Old Firm alongside Bologna, Southampton and Feyenoord as interested in the North Macedonian who scored 26 goals in all competitions last term.

Ferguson is a big fan of Miovski's ability and would be in full support of a Rangers deal if the club could secure one.

He exclusively told Ibrox News: "It might come down to money, who knows, but I tell you what it's a no-brainer. The boy's a good player, he's a finisher, that's for sure.

"If you want to compare players, compare him to [Cyriel] Dessers, I think it's like night and day. You see him, he comes alive in the box, his one and two touch finishes are brilliant.

"And we don't know him but you just look at him and you think, 'That's a boy with a good attitude, that's a guy that's young and hungry.'

"Maybe he's trying to use Scotland as a platform to go down to England. So whether that platform would be going to Rangers and showing his worth by banging in a few goals…".

Cyriel Dessers
Cyriel Dessers scored 22 goals in all competitions during his first season at Rangers.

Celtic could rival Rangers for Aberdeen star's signature

Dessers delivered a decent goal return with 22 last term after being left as the last man standing at striker but Philippe Clement surely needs more options at the position.

Danilo is returning from injury but Kemar Roofe has gone and Sam Lammers will be sold, so if Miovski is available it would make plenty of sense for the Light Blues to be in the race.

It wouldn't be easy to do a deal with Aberdeen at the best of times, and Celtic's budget is surely more substantial.

So in terms of proven Scottish Premiership strikers a move to land Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, who netted 21 of his 31 strikes last term in the league, seems more feasible albeit not guaranteed, but recent developments suggest a Tynecastle exit may be on the cards.
