Rangers' transfer pursuit of Jose Cordoba has officially come to an end as the defender has now agreed to sign for Norwich City, the club have announced.

The Canaries took to social media (5 June) to reveal that the Panamanian would be moving to Carrow Road on 14 June.

A potential transfer is still subject to international clearances and approval by the FA and EFL but a deal has now been agreed with Levski Sofia.

Norwich Evening News suggested (5 June) that the centre-back had been "pursued" by Rangers before joining the Canaries instead.

Rangers miss out on Jose Cordoba to Norwich City

At one point, the Gers had been "on the brink" of signing Cordoba [The Scottish Sun] but that will not be the case this summer.

This would have represented the second signing ahead of the transfer window after adding Jefte to their squad in May.

Now they are left wounded after Norwich stepped in to sign the defender who has opted for a move to the English second tier.

With plenty of outgoings in the window for Philippe Clement to deal with, it had felt like things were going well but this is a setback.

The Panama international would have been the ideal signing that the Light Blues are looking to make this summer. Cheap deals for players who could prove to be great players to improve the squad.

Now Clement and Co. will have to look at other targets and assess their options ahead of the transfer opening in the coming weeks.
