Rangers transfer target Thomas Galdames put in a man-of-the-match performance in what is expected to be his final game for Argentinian side Godoy Cruz.

Analyst John Walker posted a video to X containing the Chilean left-back's highlights in Godoy Cruz's 4-0 Copa Argentina victory over El Porvenir, in which he laid on two assists.

Galdames also won 100 per cent of his attempted tackles and aerial duels, with The Rangers Journal adding that he completed a further 72 per cent of his passes and 71 per cent of his ground duels.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Ibrox in recent days after the Gers missed out on another left-sided South American defender in Jose Cordoba.

Galdames represents perfect all-round fit for Rangers

After missing out on the highly-rated Cordoba thanks to a late interjection from English Championship side Norwich City, Galdames has burst onto the scene as a potentially stronger back-up option for Rangers.

While Cordoba was scouted to play as a centre-back on the left side of the Gers' defence, Galdames presents much more versatility than the 22-year-old; equally capable of playing as an attacking left-back as shown by his two assists for Godoy Cruz yesterday (29 May).

If successful in completing the move for Galdames - and they'll have to stave off at least one club in Belgium to do so - Gers boss Philippe Clement will not only have the left-footed defender he wanted, but also someone who can provide the light blues with a front-foot option after Borna Barisic departs.

Brazilian left-back Jefte has already been signed and presented at Ibrox, but adding further depth to that position in the form of a 25-year-old on the fringes of the Chile international squad brings some much-needed experience to the new-look Rangers side Clement is looking to build this summer.
