Jose Cordoba will already be hoping for a move to the English Premier League as the Levski Sofia defender nears a move to Rangers, according to Tsanko Tsvetanov.

Tsetanov, who was the assistant boss with the Bulgarians last season and recommended the defender as a signing, believes the 22-year-old can play at a level much higher than the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun on Tuesday (28 May), Tsvetanov said: "Jose is a player who will have a fantastic future if he goes to the correct club. I mean absolutely no disrespect to Rangers when I say this.

"It’s a massive club in what I know is a wonderful football country. But Jose is a player who will be aiming to play in the Premier League in England. And if he develops the way he has, I believe he will."

Rangers set to sign Premier League-quality defender in Jose Cordoba

Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen are set to undergo a massive rebuild at Ibrox this summer, which would suggest the signing of Cordoba will be an extremely welcomed addition already.

The defence is one of the major concerns right now. While Leon Balogun has signed a one-year extension, Connor Goldson and John Souttar could be on their way out, as could Borna Barisic and James Tavernier.

Given the praise Cordoba has received already, Clement will be excited to work with a young defender with so much potential, one he can develop at Ibrox.

The centre-back has amassed almost a century of performances for Levski Sofia since September 2021 and has earned a spot in the Panama national team, making 12 appearances so far.

Cordoba could be a very important signing ahead of the 2024/25, especially if Rangers are to compete with their Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.
