Rangers Women's manager Jo Potter has taken a new jibe at the Womens Premier League's officials after they "killed" the clash with Glasgow City.

The Light Blues booked their place in Europe next year and moved level on points with table toppers and Old Firm rivals Celtic with a 1-0 win on Sunday (12 May) thanks to a second-half goal from Rachel McLaughlin.

It was far from simple for Potter's side who had to weather some pressure from the home side and the Gers boss was quick to lay blame at the referee's door for disrupting the momentum of proceedings.

As quoted by RangersTV on Sunday (12 May) she said: "It was a scrappy game, I don't think the officials helped that, from minute one it was stop-start, killed the game a little bit. The pitch doesn't help, we know coming here is going to be difficult when it is extremely dry today.

“We had to change our game a little bit, which I was proud of the players that they did. They stuck to task, managed the game really well in moments, up against some tough conditions so proud of the players and a big three points is the main thing for us."

Will Rangers Women beat Celtic Women to the title this season?

Even with the conditions and the officials up against them slightly, Potter's side managed to find a way to claim all three points on Sunday, something that Philippe Clement would have been wishing his side managed at Parkhead.

Things really couldn't be much tighter at the top of the table at this stage of the season, with just a single goal separating the two Old Firm teams. This title race will almost certainly go down to the wire and it is anyone's guess how it ends.

The Gers have winnable fixtures against Hibernian and Partick Thistle to play before the Scottish Cup final against Hearts. If the Light Blues play to their strengths, Potter could finish her debut campaign with a domestic treble.

While spirits may have been slightly dampened on the blue half of Glasgow following the men's Old Firm defeat on Saturday (11 May) Potter and her side are managing to find a way to keep the title race alive in the women's side.
