Maurice Ross shocked by Philippe Clement decision for Rangers win v Kilmarnock, ‘Wow’

Former Rangers player Maurice Ross appeared to question Philippe Clement’s decision to start Todd Cantwell against Kilmarnock.

Cantwell was named in the starting XI for Sunday’s (5 May) Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox, which ended in a 4-1 comeback victory for the Gers.

As the game was kicking off, Ross posted a message on his personal X account seemingly questioning the selection decision.

“Biggest game of season cantwell!! Wow!!!! What u doing mate,” he said.

Todd Cantwell performance for Rangers v Kilmarnock

Cantwell lasted just under 70 minutes of a contest that Rangers made hard work of winning – although they did ultimately get the job done.

Attacking midfielder Cantwell registered only one key pass [WhoScored], compared to five for John Lundstram, who was far more of an attacking threat.

Cantwell’s one shot on target was also four fewer than Fabio Silva, while he recorded no dribbles – successful or otherwise.

Indeed, substitutes Tom Lawrence and Ross McCausland both had better statistics come full-time, which may sway Clement’s selection call against Celtic next weekend.

It goes without saying that next week’s Old Firm is truly massive, so Clement must get his starting line-up call spot on.
