Chris Sutton shares one-word Rangers v Kilmarnock verdict as well as image from Ibrox

Rangers are preparing to face Kilmarnock at Ibrox, in a game simply described as “huge” by Chris Sutton pre-match.

The former Premiership striker posted on X from the sidelines at Ibrox, before Rangers and Kilmarnock get underway at 1:00pm on 5 May with the Gers looking to close a six-point gap at the top of the table.

Philippe Clement’s side simply need to win against Killie if they’re to have any chance of overtaking Celtic at the top of the table, ahead of facing their Old Firm rivals at Parkhead on 11 May.

Sutton’s one-word assessment of; “huge”, is spot-on, as Rangers prepare to a climactic run-in.

Rangers ready to hunt down Celtic as Premiership title race hots up

Rangers face a sizeable task if they are to overtake Celtic at the summit with just four games left to play in the league this season, but that task becomes all the more improbable if they fail to beat Kilmarnock.

The Old Firm rivals have engaged in some titanic battles throughout this season, none more so than a 3-3 draw at Ibrox which saw Rangers come back from both 2-0 and 3-2 down, and still have another two meetings to come before the campaign comes to an end.

The last of those is on 25 May in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park, after Cyriel Dessers’ double gave the Gers a 2-0 win over Hearts in a semi-final which could prove crucial for turning their form around, having fallen off the pace in the Premiership.

First up though, is next weekend’s all-or-nothing clash at Parkhead. Clement’s side could draw level on points with Celtic if they claim victory in the green-and-white half of Glasgow, but that achieving that feat can only be possible if they beat Kilmarnock today.

A huge game? Most definitely.

In other Rangers news, the club are optimistic about completing an “unbelievable” transfer deal with a £20m sale mooted already.
