Rangers: Philippe Clement makes ‘Amazing’ new admission to Kris Boyd before Celtic

Philippe Clement has been stunned by the passion for football in Glasgow since arriving at Rangers, as he confessed to Kris Boyd ahead of the Old Firm clash with Celtic.

The boss explained that he’d never seen such passion before and it would be difficult to explain to anybody who hadn’t experienced it, calling the city a “really special place”.

He went on to joke about fan interactions outside of football as Celtic fans haven’t quite given him the same reception as those at Ibrox but noted that they have remained respectful.

Speaking to Kris Boyd on Sky Sports [as shared on X], Clement explained: “It’s great, we love it. The passion for football, it’s amazing. I’ve never seen this, I’ve never even heard about it in that way, you cannot explain this to other people. It’s a really special place.

“People are passionate but also respectful here – when they’re from the other side of the town sometimes a little bit less, but not violent it’s more showing their emotion.”

Philippe Clement has Rangers flying ahead of clash v Celtic

When Clement took over at Ibrox, there was little hope of anything close to a title challenge given the awful start to the season under Michael Beale, but with his guidance, that has all changed.

This weekend’s Old Firm derby could see Rangers move clear of their rivals at the top ahead of a midweek clash with Dundee – their game in hand – in which another win could see them pull five points clear heading into the final game of the season.

Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil dismissed claims that the game would be a title decider with so much football still to play, but as the game edges closer and nerves start to intensify, there is certainly plenty on the line at Ibrox.

Rangers winger Scott Wright has insisted the team are confident heading into the game, and as McCoist has suggested previously, this should be a massive game in deciding the destination of the SPFL title, and Clement will be hopeful of securing all three points.
