Rangers will breathe a sigh of relief after their postponed SPFL fixture against Dundee was rescheduled for 10 April, the week after the Old Firm clash with Celtic.

Concerns had emerged that the game would be scheduled mid-week before the Ibrox clash with Celtic on 7 April, following the Hibernian fixture, which could have scuppered their preparation.

Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack predicted that the game would have to be played in the week ahead of the next Old Firm derby, or the away trip to Ross County, which could prove difficult for them - luckily for Philippe Clement's side, it was the latter.

However, it was confirmed on 20 March via the official SPFL website that the game at Dens Park will now take place on 10 April.

Rangers avoid Old Firm headache after Dundee postponement

After the game, initially set to take place on 17 March, was postponed, plenty of anger emerged from Ibrox, mixing the frustration of not having a game to watch with the concern of when it would be rearranged.

Chris Sutton, meanwhile, claimed that having to postpone games so shortly before kickoff in the top tier of Scottish football is an embarrassment, insisting that it was humiliating and wouldn’t happen in any other top league in Europe.

With the title race so hotly contested this season, Clement would have hoped to have a week to prepare ahead of the next Old Firm clash, and the rescheduling has been kind to him in that respect, with those preparations set to remain as planned.

Another possible blow to their title challenge, however, comes from the fact that, due to having played one more game, Celtic have jumped back to the top of the league, and Rangers will now be playing catchup once more with the pressure rising.
