Jim White has thanked Rangers fans as well as the neutrals who attended what he has described as a "memorable night" at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow.

White was joined by Rangers legend Graeme Souness, current manager Philippe Clement and goalkeeper Jack Butland for an event in front of the audience in Glasgow.

The event would have been made sweeter for Rangers fans, and likely the names alongside White, by the fact Celtic fell to a defeat to Hearts earlier that day, failing to capitalise on Gers' slip against Motherwell.

Taking to his personal X account following the game, the talkSPORT journalist wrote: "Huge thanks to the Rangers FC fans and the neutrals who made it a memorable night at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow."

Jim White sends new message to Rangers fans after dramatic weekend

It was a tense weekend as far as the SPFL title race was concerned, with Rangers' 2-1 defeat at Ibrox opening the door for Celtic to reclaim the top spot before their 2-0 defeat to Hearts meant the weekend ended with nothing having changed.

That result will have come as a relief to Clement and Butland in particular, who had to face a large audience of mainly Rangers supporters only shortly after the Celtic defeat, which would have been slightly tense had they thrown first place away.

The weekend's scorelines drew Ally McCoist to insist that neither Rangers nor Celtic will be comfortable sitting at the top of the league this season, although the inconsistency would make for a good title race.

With the title race as close as it has proved to be so far this season, McCoist also insisted that the two remaining Old Firm derbies will be "massive" in deciding where the title ends up. Butland and Clement will have a huge say in that outcome.
