Rangers have bright future to look forward to after what happened in Scottish Youth Cup

Rangers suffered a bitterly disappointing blow to their Scottish Premiership title hopes on Saturday (2 March) at the hands of Motherwell.

The Well left Ibrox with all three points with a shock 2-1 win, with Theo Blair and Dan Casey on target either side of a James Tavernier penalty.

The Gers were then done a massive favour by Hearts a day later, with the Jambos defeating Celtic 2-0 on Sunday (3 March).

There was no such slip-up in the youth ranks of Ibrox at the weekend, however, with Rangers Under-18s clinching a massive win.

Steven Smith’s side now have a Scottish Youth Cup final to look forward to, having defeated Dundee United on penalties on Friday (1 March).

The two clubs played out a goalless draw in the semi-final of the competition, with the Gers coming out with a 4-2 win in the shootout.

As per the official Rangers website (1 March), the club have now booked a fourth successive Hampden Park showdown.

Aberdeen will take on Ayr United in the other semi-final clash later this month, with the winner set to face the young Rangers stars at the national stadium in April.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement to attend Scottish Youth Cup final?

With a league title race and potential European and Scottish Cup commitments, senior manager Philippe Clement will have a lot on his plate when that match comes around, but he would be foolish to not take at least a quick glimpse at what the future has to offer.

And that would simply spur the young players on even more, with many undoubtedly eyeing a first-team place in the very near future.

Even if the Ibrox outfit do not come out on top at Hampden Park, Rangers can still look forward to a very bright future.
