David Edgar has shared how Scott Brown reacted to a challenge from Fabio Silva, with the Rangers forward already on a yellow card on Saturday 10 February.

The Wolves loanee made it two goals in three matches since arriving at Ibrox during the January transfer window, slamming home the Gers' second against Ayr United in the Scottish Cup.

However, the Ayr United boss, and former Celtic midfielder, believes Silva should not have been on the pitch to score the goal to double Rangers' lead with 15 minutes of the match remaining.

The Hearts and Hand podcast founder wrote via X on Saturday (10 February): "This will shock you, so sit down for it, but Scott Brown thought Silva should have been sent off."

Scott Brown returns to Rangers

With Brown returning to Ibrox for the first time since his Celtic days, there was always bound to be some kind of controversy surrounding his opinion.

In true Brown style, he was in the ear of the fourth official all night, always complaining about something going on. With the Old Firm very much still in his blood, nothing less was expected of him.

Whether he thinks Silva should have been on the pitch or not, he was. And the Portuguese forward rounded off a nice move to cement Rangers' spot in the next round despite a tough night.

The visitors should be very proud of their performance, having only been 1-0 down at half-time, and could have equalised against the Scottish Premiership side early in the second half.

It was not meant to be for them, however. Philippe Clement will still see a lot that needs working on, with the Gers expected to put more than two goals past the Championship outfit.
