Rangers star Nicolas Raskin confirms return to training in fresh injury update
Nicolas Raskin has confirmed he has returned to training with Rangers as he continues to recover from an injury which saw him miss out on the ViaPlay Cup final victory and the 2-1 defeat to Celtic.
The injury came at a time when Philippe Clement was also missing key midfielders, Ryan Jack and Jose Cifuentes, leaving Rangers short in the middle of the park.
A return to training for Raskin will provide a boost going into the new year, as they continue their chase to close down Celtic at the top.

Raskin provided an update on his progress via his Instagram story [31 December] where he posted: “Feels so good to be back. See you soon on the pitch 2024,” alongside a video of a goal he scored in a shooting drill, plus a cartwheel to celebrate.
A huge boost for Clement
Having Raskin back to full fitness ahead of a string of important games will be a huge boost to Clement and his team, with every game now crucial following the defeat to Celtic at Parkhead on 30 December.
Rangers are currently eight points behind top-of-the-league Celtic, but winning their two games in hand would allow them to cut the deficit to just two points, and with the return of Raskin their chances of closing the gap have received a welcome boost.
The sitting midfield duo of John Lundstram and Dujon Sterling has been solid enough during the absence of most of the club’s natural central players, but Raskin’s return will add some confidence and familiarity into the role which, despite his impressive displays, Sterling lacks.

Judging by the video uploaded to his Instagram, the Belgian shouldn’t be too far away from a first-team return, and may even be fit to feature when Rangers face Kilmarnock at Ibrox on 2 January, whether that’s from the start or coming off of the bench.
