12 players could leave Rangers this summer in mass exodus under Clement
Peter Martin has named 12 players who could leave Rangers this summer under Philippe Clement with a mass exodus from Ibrox on the cards.
The PLZ Soccer host shared his view that the likes of Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Sam Lammers and more could be on the move this summer as they are not good enough for Rangers.
This came as he listed almost the entire Rangers squad and whether they would stay or leave this summer, with questions asked about the likes of Jose Cifuentes and Todd Cantwell, although they didn’t make the list of exits.
Speaking on PLZ Soccer, Martin shared: “Yilmaz: has to stay fit or he’s out. Souttar: could be a summer casualty, he can’t cement himself in that side. Barisic: gone in the summer. Ryan Jack: he’ll be away on a free this summer.
“Steven Davis: brilliant player that he was, legs gone, time to coach, might play elsewhere to keep his international caps going. Lammers: gone. Scott Wright: gone.
“Sima is a loan player. Dessers: 50/50. Kemar Roofe: end of season, gone because he’s always injured. Hagi: I think we’ll sell him. Lowry: I think we’ll move him on.”
Massive clearout on the cards
Of course, not every player Martin listed will make their departure from Ibrox this summer, but a significant portion of them will likely be considered for exits if they keep up their disappointing displays so far this season.
It also remains to be seen whether contracts will be handed to the likes of Barisic and Jack, and the chances are Clement will be given the deciding vote on that front after he has time to work with the players and assess how they perform in his side.
The fact that Lammers and Dessers in particular were listed among the names is a damning indictment of Michael Beale’s recruitment and the extent to which the board backed him in the summer transfer window.
A number of other players were listed in his rant, with Dujon Sterling, Cifuentes, Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun and more were slated by Martin, although not on the list of possible outgoing players, in a scathing assessment of the quality of this Rangers squad.
In other Rangers news, Kris Boyd has named the man he’d have wanted at Ibrox.
