Official Rangers partner share 'Truth' behind approach for Brighton's Sam Jewell
Rangers have not made an approach to hire Brighton’s head of recruitment Sam Jewell as a technical director, according to Heart and Hand.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday (18 October) that a formal approach had now been made for the current head of recruitment, although a final decision was yet to be made on his side as he needed convincing of the role.
But the club have moved quickly to quash those rumours, and told an official club partner that no such approach had been made and there was no truth to the story.
“Rangers say there is no truth in the Sam Jewell story,” they wrote on their official Twitter account (18 October).
Quick
Rangers aren’t usually the quickest when it comes to responding to rumours, but this was a very swift response.
With James Bisgrove very open during Tuesday’s press conference to unveil Philippe Clement about the fact the process was currently ongoing with “live discussions” taking place, that can mean one of two things.
Either Rangers are in talks with Brighton and Jewell about the role and don’t want anyone to get spooked so have shut the story down publicly to ensure it doesn’t get out of hand, or they really aren’t talking to him and they don’t want other candidates to feel as though they may be about to miss out.
Either way we shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out the truth, but the reality was always that this is a bit of a dream appointment considering how well Brighton are doing right now and it would be more of a shock if he showed up at Ibrox than if he didn’t.
