Kevin Muscat ‘willing to pull out the stops’ to become next Rangers manager as new footage emerges

Kevin Muscat is “willing to pull out the stops” to become the next manager of Rangers despite new footage showing him in training with his current side.

Muscat has emerged as one of the top two candidates for the role alongside Philippe Clement after Michael Beale was sacked last week following ten months in charge.

But a deal doesn’t seem to be close after footage emerged of him in training on Tuesday (10 October) in Japan, but according to the Daily Record he is still of interest to the Gers and is willing to push to make the move happen.

Rangers-linked manager Kevin Muscat stands on the tocuhline.

“Kevin Muscat might be in the Rangers reckoning but that doesn’t appear to be taking his eye away from the day job he has now,” they wrote.

“New training ground footage released by the club today shows the Aussie appearing to be watching over a session in Yokohama.

“He’s a man willing to pull out the stops to become boss at Ibrox but his club aren’t shy in showing he’s still very much their man.”

What we want

There’s been a lot of talk from Rangers fans in recent times about only wanting players at the club who want to be here, but the same has to be said for the management team.

Michael Beale clearly wanted to be here but wasn’t good enough, and while Lampard wanted to be here too neither was he. But someone like Gerrard proved he was good enough but didn’t want to be here, and that can’t be the case.

Rangers

Muscat is clearly very keen to get the role and knows it is an opportunity which may not present itself again, and with it being such a big step up from the J League with Yokohama F Marinos he needs to make himself the stand out candidate.

Clement is said to be close to convincing the Ibrox board that he’s the right man for the job so Muscat will need to act quickly but he’s clearly keen.

It will be fun to see how this develops because there are plenty of Gers fans who want him to be appointed at this point, but there isn’t much time left in the race for him to get to the head of the queue.
