Delay may hit Rangers manager hunt this week as new timeline emerges – Sky Sports

There is “every chance” that Rangers could extend the process of hiring their new manager into next week, according to Sky Sports.

The publication reported on its website on Tuesday (10 October) that the club have had an extensive shortlist in place for months.

Midfielder Steven Davis is currently interim manager of the Gers after Michael Beale was sacked due to a poor start to the season.

“Rangers have been whittling down an extensive shortlist that has been in place for months, as part of the club’s succession planning process,” according to Sky Sports.

“While a new manager could be named later this week, there is every chance the process may extend into next week with the club’s focus on making the correct long-term appointment rather than rushing the process.”

Huge decision

It is a massive decision that the powers that be at Ibrox face, with the correct appointment needed to be made after the long run of managers in the last few years. Beale, Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have all been in the hot-seat in recent times.

The next person in the dugout needs to be there for the long-haul if the club are to have any chance of success on the pitch.

Stability is needed in Glasgow, and that is something that has been severely lacking recently, with an interim boss currently in place, which is not the ideal scenario for anyone connected to the club.

Results need to improve as soon as possible, and that can only be achieved with an experienced, talented manager. Those are, however, seemingly in short supply at the moment, which is exactly why Rangers need to take as much time as they need to find a suitable candidate.
