Ally McCoist delivers 'Not Good' verdict after Rangers 1-0 win v Motherwell
Ally McCoist has labelled Rangers’ performance in the win over Motherwell as “not good” while appearing on talkSPORT’s breakfast show.
The Gers legend was speaking on his daily show (27 September) when he was asked by co-host Alan Brazil about the weekend fixtures from the SPFL.
And McCoist gave credit to Celtic for a 3-0 win despite being down to ten men, but was less complimentary about his own team despite them picking up three points and a clean sheet.
“Celtic were very comfortable, Joe Hart was sent off and they won 3-0 down at Livingston,” he said.
“Rangers – not good, won 1-0 and Dessers scored a kind of deflected goal, against Motherwell.”
Standards
Three points, a win and a clean sheet are obviously all positive things when it comes to Rangers right now, but that simply isn’t enough for this club.
Rangers fans expect to be entertained when they come to Ibrox to watch their team play football, and that hasn’t been the case in recent weeks.
There are standards at this club and simply winning isn’t enough. You have to win comfortably and in good style, especially in games where you’re the favourite and expected to win at home.
With that said, Beale knows that his job has been under threat in recent times after a poor start to the season and for him results are the most important thing for now.
He’s made the team better defensively and he’s picking up vital points so it’s hard to be too disappointed, but at some point the performances need to go up another level or two to really get the fans back on side.
