Michael Beale sets Rangers tongues wagging as Instagram activity means sack could be en route

The rumour mill has been going into overdrive at Rangers this week after the defeat to Celtic, with Michael Beale’s future the main topic of conversation.

A 1-0 defeat at Ibrox means Gers are four points off the top after four games with just two wins, while they’ve also already been embarrassed in Europe and eliminated from the Champions League before the group stages even begun.

After a summer of much change, fans have grown angry at the lack of progress and development under the current manager with many calling for a new face in the dugout.

Reports suggested that Kevin Muscat has already been contacted about potentially replacing Beale, while current Birmingham City boss John Eustace has also been mentioned as a candidate.

But there is no job vacancy right now, so the only way that could be possible would be if Rangers were planning for life without Beale at the helm in the near future.

Those rumours were of course denied by the club, but there is very rarely smoke without fire and now Beale himself has added fuel to that fire by making changes to his personal Instagram account.

He joined Rangers from English Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers last November, but he has now switched his profile picture on the social media app back to an image of himself during his QPR days according to The 4th Official.

In addition to that, the well known private Rangers group on the app now doesn’t have the current first-team manager as an active member in it.

The likelihood is that these things mean nothing and are simply coincidence, but the manager will be well aware of the chatter around his future and this will only stoke the flames and speculation.

It’s something to keep an eye on for sure, and while there is no suggestion that a change of manager is imminent right now a few more bad results after the international break could see that change quickly.
