Official Rangers partner Heart and Hand believe the club have done a "good bit of business" after it emerged Glen Kamara was close to a £5.5m move to Leeds.

The Finland international has been cast aside at Ibrox this season as Michael Beale looks to move him on from the first-team squad, with a move to Elland Road said to be close according to The Sun.

And the podcast admitted that they felt the player's "heart isn't in it" anymore which makes the deal a solid bit of business for the club.

"£5.5m for Glen Kamara is a good bit of business," they wrote on their official Twitter account (22 August).

"I think he'll do well for Leeds, he's a good player. It's just been clear for a while his heart isn't in it up here."

Facts

Anyone who has watched Kamara over recent years for Rangers will know that he is a super talented midfielder who put in a shift far more often than not when he played.

But he clearly wanted a move away last summer and was denied it for whatever reason, and that badly impacted on his form under Giovanni van Bronckhorst before Beale opted to go with other options instead.

With two years remaining on his contract at the club, plus the huge squad overhaul that has taken place this summer his exit was essentially inevitable and it makes sense to cash in now rather than risk losing him for far less down the line.

£5.5m is a big chunk of change in Scotland but nothing to a club like Leeds, and it's a deal that suits all parties right now at this stage of the window.

There is potential for an incoming deal to now happen if Beale wants to reinvest the cash, but most of all it's important to get an unhappy player out of the door and get good cash for him at the same time.
