BBC Scotland pundit Neil McCann has predicted Rangers to “get the job done” against Servette on Tuesday (15 August).

The Gers take on the Swiss club in their Champions League third round qualifier second leg, having won the first leg 2-1 last Wednesday (9 August).

And despite believing that Servette will be difficult to beat, McCann has suggested that the Scottish side will progress to the next round.

Rangers

“It’s a really tough game,” McCann said on BBC Scotland Sportscene (16m15s). “I think they’ll get the job done, but I don’t think it will be easy.

“This team (Servette) just don’t go away, they’ve got a resilience about them. But I think Rangers have found the right result to boost their confidence going into this match.

“They’ve got players there that can clearly hit on the break with their pace. I think that will serve them well. I think sitting in too deep will be a problem, they’ve got to find a balance.”

Rangers

Huge clash

It is a massive match for Rangers, with Champions League football set to serve the Ibrox club well in many different ways.

There is, of course, the financial incentive, but also the opportunity to test themselves against the top clubs in Europe.

But even with a win against Servette, a play-off round would await Rangers, who would take on the winners of PSV and Sturm Graz.

As McCann alluded to, however, Michael Beale’s side should have plenty of confidence going into the match in Switzerland, having defeated Livingston 4-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (12 August).

New forwards Sam Lammers, Danilo and Abdallah Sima were all on the scoresheet, as was new midfield man Kieran Dowell.

Getting off the mark this early in their Rangers careers will definitely serve them well for the rest of the season, with Gers boss Beale hoping they can have a similar impact against Servette.
