Calvin Bassey sends three-word message to Cyriel Dessers after Rangers done deal

Former Rangers defender Calvin Bassey sent a three-word Instagram message to new Ibrox signing Cyriel Dessers as he officially completed his move on Thursday (6 July).

The Gers announced the Nigerian striker as their sixth signing of the summer from Cremonese for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year deal at Ibrox.

Rangers manager Michael Beale told his club website: “Cyriel pushed extremely hard to make this transfer a reality and showed a huge desire to come here.”

And in Dessers’ post on Instagram (6 July) showing him in his new Rangers colours in the first-team dressing room, Bassey left his countryman a three-word message congratulating him on his Ibrox transfer.

He said: “Yes my boy.”

Brilliant addition

Rangers certainly mean business this summer as they completed their whopping sixth signing of the summer, and once again Beale delivers the player he’s always wanted at Ibrox.

Dessers arrives on Ibrox shores with grand European experience and a pedigree that means he could well replace Alfredo Morelos with such great aplomb next season.

Rangers

Rangers have long been on the prowl for attacking signings but already have completed three of them already in the space of about three weeks after the deals for Abdallah Sima and Sam Lammers.

And it won’t be a surprise to see Beale add a few more additions to his team, especially with the centre-back position needing some reinforcements.

While Dessers may not be known as a true out-and-out goalscorer, he will certainly look to change that fact considering the plethora of quality he will be playing around next season. And Beale will be hoping the Nigerian striker is the crucial factor in the Scottish Premiership title finally landing across Glasgow next season.
